Abstract: PEREZ, ANA MARGARITA M. Lived Experiences of Selected Voters and Former Public Officials during Elections in the Municipality of Mendez-Nunez, Cavite: A Phenomenological Study. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. Cavite State University. May 2019. Adviser: Prof. Renato T. Agdalpen. The study was conducted from January to March 2019 in the municipality of Mendez-Nunez, Cavite to determine the lived experiences of registered voters and former local government officials during elections in the community. Specifically, it aimed to determine the reasons behind the practices and experiences of the participants all through elections. A phenomenological approach through in-depth interviews and thematic table analysis was done to come up with the results of the study. A total of 16 participants comprises eight former local government officials, and eight registered voters. The present themes and features, both in the narratives of the politicians and of the residents, were categorized into the following: description of the elections in the community, significance of candidates studying the community and vice versa, and their electoral practices. The findings revealed that election in Mendez revolves around political parties yet is very peaceful. However, results show incidents of vote-buying in the area that were not properly addressed by respected offices.
