Abstract: ABSTRACT BACUNAWA, X'DECZA A., MANTBOG, GRANT MAY P., and PELAYO, RACHEL ALYSSA MARIE G., Kalabaw Lang Ang Tumatanda: An Episodic Narrative of Aging Skilled Workers in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology.Cavite State University. June 2018. Thesis Adviser: Alyssa Kae S. Alegre, RPm. This study was conducted from January to February 2018 at selected areas of Cavite to know on how the aging skilled job workers find meaning on working in spite of old age through the use of narratives. Specifically, it aimed to answer the following key points: 1. what are the reasons that made them to continue working?; 2.what are their personal experiences as they have reached sixty (60) years old?; and 3. what are the things you did to deal with those experiences? The study harnessed qualitative design incorporating episodic narrative as a methodology which intends to acquire and extract particular topics from eight aging skilled workers. The researchers used purposive sampling. Semi-structured interview guide questionnaires reviewed by the experts were used a research instrument. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the gathered data. Member checking was also used as a method to validate the results. The results revealed that some of the participants experience declining physical capabilities, therefore they keep their jobs to make themselves active and to maintain healthy physique. Nevertheless, most of the participants tend to keep their job to fulfil their duties in the workplace and responsibilities in the family. Moreover, enjoyment is also one of the factors that encourage the older workers to keep their job. In line with this, they were able to channel their loneliness through the enjoyment that they gain from the workplace. Five (5) main themes were prominent from the interview: fulfilling duties and responsibilities in family, desire to continue working, desire to enjoy life, having the desire to acquire the full benefits from the company and/or the government, and escape from the feelings of being weak and sad.
