Abstract: LISONDRA, PRINCESS G. Effectiveness of Voice of the Youth Radio on Youth Advocacy. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Mrs. Lisette D. Mendoza. The study was conducted to determine the effectiveness of Voice of the Youth Radio on youth advocacy. Specifically, it aimed to determine the effectiveness of the program in terms of: (1) advocacy integration through its programming; (2) advocacy promotion through its youthcasters/anchors’ function, and; (3) relationship of its advocacy integration and advocacy promotion. The study was conducted at DZIQ 990 AM Radyo Inquirer located at 2nd Floor Media Resources Plaza, Pasong Tirad corner Mola Streets, Barangay La Paz, Makati City, Metro Manila from October 2014 -February 2015. Descriptive-correlation study was the research design used in order to analyze the perception of 30 respondents (featured guests and random visitors) selected via convenience or accidental sampling. The survey questionnaire used was consisted of 30- itemed statements which contained 3-point scale (3-Agree, 2-Disagree, 1-Neither agree nor disagree) that was subject to help in determining the participants’ agreement by putting check mark on the corresponding boxes. The statistical treatments used for both the first and second objective were frequency percentage, mean, and standard deviation. Meanwhile, Spearman rho was used to determine the strength of the significant relationship between advocacy integration and advocacy promotion of VOTY Radio. The results revealed that the program is effective regarding its advocacy integration through its programming with a mean of 2.72 and standard deviation of 0.61. Also, it is effective in advocacy promotion through its youthcasters/anchors’ function with a mean of 2.79 and standard deviation of 0.56. Furthermore, the relationship of advocacy integration and advocacy promotion revealed a computed value of 0.651, p-value of 0.000 (decision= reject H,) which indicates a strong degree of correlation between the said factors for effectiveness. Therefore, VOTY Radio is effective in its advocacy integration through its programming. It is also effective in advocacy promotion through _ its youthcasters/anchors’ function. On the other hand, there is a strong significant relationship between advocacy integration and advocacy promotion. Finally, VOTY Radio is effective on youth advocacy.
