Abstract: AIRA MAIDEN R. NATI Implementation of Lean Manufacturing Tools in Se Jung Apparel Inc. Undergraduate Case Study, Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Adviser: Prof. Rowena R. Noceda. A case study was conducted at Se Jung Apparel Inc. located in Lot 1, Phase 3, PEZA Annex, 1st Main Avenue, First Cavite Industrial Estate Brgy. Langkaan, Dasmaririas City, Cavite from January 10 to March 7, 2017. It aimed to describe the products and operations of the company, describe the implementation of 6S in the firm, evaluate the implementation of 6S using SWOT analysis, determine the problems encountered by the firm in the implementation of 6S, and lastly, suggest possible lean manufacturing tools. Primary data were obtained through personal interviews with those people who are concerned and involved in the production area such as the production manager, sewing supervisor, quality assurance manager, safety officer, maintenance leader, warehouse leader and even the compliance officer. Other data were gathered through direct observations and actual participation in the production area. Descriptive method was used to describe and analyze the operations of the firm. Figures and tables were used to present the production process flow, the factory layout, inspection process, and work-in- process movement. SWOT analysis was also used to analyze the production practices of Se Jung Apparel Inc. The different works in the factory include manufacturing (cutting, trimming, sewing, pressing, and finishing) maintenance/repair, import and export of materials and products. Problems with regard to the implementation of 6S were also analyzed in order to give possible solutions. Implementation of 6S in every section in the production department was also analyzed to evaluate the internal and external factors that can affect the firm in the implementation of 6S. Other finding and suggestions are also discussed in the later part of this study. The finding shows that 6S and cellular manufacturing are some of the commonly used lean manufacturing tools in the organization. Productivity, reduction of work, scrap are some of the commonly cited benefits across the lean implementation in the firm. Apart from these are some of the problems that may be encountered during the implementation of this tool, and one of it would be lack of training of both supervisors and employees. Another one would be lack of supervisors to supervise the lean implementation. These are some of the many reasons why implementing lean manufacturing tools in the company is hard to maintain. But, still practicing and having a deep understanding about different lean manufacturing tools would be a great help in the improvement of the company.
