Abstract: MASICAP, MARK FRANCIS M. and MARTIN IVAN E. PANGILINAN Design and Development of a Short Messaging (SMS) Fire Alarm System. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2011. Adviser: Engr. Edwin R. Arboleda. The development of a Short Messaging (SMS) Fire Alarm System was conducted in the Department of Computer and Electronics Engineering with the objective of designing and developing a Fire Alarm System with Short Messaging Services (SMS) feature. The device was designed to detect fire as early as possible through smoke and temperature change and send warning messages to security officer if smoke is detected and directly to fire station if heat is detected. The project used a GSM Module and PIC16F877A microcontroller for the message sending function of the device. The SMS Fire Alarm is composed of smoke sensors, heat detectors, numeric keypad, and display for the status of the system. Its casing is a metal box made of gauge 20 metal plates. The system was installed and evaluated at the Engineering Science Building, Department of Computer and Communications Engineering.
