Abstract: BARBUCO, ANNE QUEEN C. and MARQUEZ, ALEN D., Waste Minimization at the Dyeing Process in Saffron Philippines Incorporated. Undergraduate Thesis.Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2015. Adviser: Ms. Mary Joyce P. Alcazar. Saffron Philippines Incorporated is a dyeing company located at Paliparan I, Dasmarinas, Cavite. The need for the study arises due to the wastes that the company produces. The estimated water wastes at the dyeing process that the company produces monthly is 980,000 liters. The study generally aimed to minimize the waste in the dyeing process of Saffron Philippines Inc. A series of company visit was conducted by the researchers to be able to discuss the procedures and the waste of the dyeing process in Saffron Philippines Inc., and discuss the waste management system of the company. An interview was also conducted by the researchers to the production manager of Saffron Philippines Inc. to identify the waste/s incurred at the dyeing process. To develop methods to minimize the identified waste in the dyeing process of Saffron Philippines Inc., different industrial engineering (IE)tools and lean manufacturing were applied by the researchers. Addendum, the researchers conducted cost analysis on the minimization of waste of the dyeing process in Saffron Philippines Inc. The application of the different industrial engineering tools, based on the study conducted by the researchers, will help the company minimize the waste at the dyeing process in Saffron Philippines Incorporated since there will be combination of process in order to prevent and lessen if not eliminate the production of waste water. This study suggested that the company should have an implementation of 5S practices (sort, scrub, straighten, systematize and standardize). Addendum, to have a continuous implementation, the company should have a certified monitoring officer in order to maintain the practice.
