April 2003. Adviser: Mrs. Ma. Corazon A. Buena. A field study was conducted to train the student in actual work and be exposed to the different activities in the company. This also aimed to discus the organization and management, and marketing aspects of the hotel, identify the problems encountered by the firm and recommend some feasible solutions to the problem identified and experience how to work as real employee of a hotel. The field study was conducted at Days Hotel Tagaytay, Tagaytay City from November 13, 2002 to January 20, 2003. The data were gathered through observation and interviews with the staff, department heads and employees. Other information were obtained from the records / files of the company, CvSU Library and Tagaytay City Hall Library. Days Hotel Tagaytay is one of the World’s largest and fastest growing hotel chain, reserved to offer tourists and locals a one-step-shop destination for leisure and relaxation. Function rooms are suitable for conventions, conferences and seminars. Restaurant is also available were the guest can enjoy their favorite food. Assignment in the Sales and Marketing Department include clerical works, blocking of rooms and function on the white board, assisting guests, photocopying important documents, answering phone calls, encoding, filing documents, recording and fax transmitting. There were times when the trainee was assigned at the customer care department, back office, HRD, housekeeping and restaurants. During the field study, the firm encountered the problems with regards to lack of manpower and equipment in the laundry area since most of the equipment were not functioning well. Another problem was the newly hired housekeepers who were not performing their duties well. It is therefore recommended that Days Hotel hire additional laundry attendants and purchase laundry equipment to cope with their needs. The management of Days Hotel, specifically the Housekeeping Supervisor, must train the newly hired housekeepers because he is responsible for directing, supervising and coordinating the function of the Housekeeping Staff. He must conduct trainings to discuss problems, give instructions and some briefings to his staff to be more competitive and most importantly, for the smooth flow of operations of the hotel.
