Abstract: GERALDINE F. EUSEBIO Materials Flow and Production System of Coffee: The Case of Café Amadeo Development Cooperative. Undergraduate Case Study. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2014. Adviser: Prof. Rowena R. Noceda. A case study was conducted at Café Amadeo Development Cooperative located at Brgy. Dagatan, Amadeo, Cavite from July 13, 2013 to September 7, 2013. It aimed to ascertain the materials flow and production system of CADC. Specifically, it described the products of CADC; determined the sources of materials for coffee production; determined the warehousing strategies for coffee; determined the production scheduling for coffee; identified the coffee production processes; identified distribution techniques; and identified problems encountered and feasible solutions to it. Primary data were obtained through personal interviews with the manager, management, and production staff and direct observation of the operations and activities involved through actual participation. Descriptive method was used to describe and identify the materials flow and production system of Café Amadeo Development Cooperative. Tables and figures were used to represent the processes, performances and activities involved in the operations. Materials flow from the suppliers of coffee to CADC coffee production was identified. Production system of coffee starting from the production of coffee up to its distribution was also identified. The main stages of coffee production process were dehulling/milling, sorting, roasting, blending, grinding and packaging. CADC only performed sorting, blending, grinding, and packaging. The milling process was done by one of the members of the cooperative while coffee roasting was sub-contracted with Gourmet Inc. in Silang. Cavite. CADC had three different packagings: ordinary plastic, foil, and jute bag. Jute bag was the best seller during peak seasons like in December because of its high demand. CADC supplies many pasalubong centers, hotels, restaurants, and coffee shops especially in Manila. They also participated in fairs, exhibits, and expositions to promote their coffee. Problems regarding the production were mainly lack of manpower, lack of ventilation, poor maintenance of record books, and poor housekeeping.
