This study was conducted to determine the different between desired mate preference and emotional maturity of third year male and female students in the College of Education (CED) and College of Economics, Management and Development Studies (CEMDS) in Cavite State University for the academic year 2011-2012. Specifically, this study sought to determine: a) the profile of respondents in terms of gender and college; b) the most and least desired mate preference and emotional maturity of the two groups of respondents. The study covered fifty four (54) third year male and female students in the College of Education and fifty four (54) third year male and female students in the College of Economics, Management and Development Studies in Cavite State University for the academic year 2011-2012. A total of two hundred sixteen (216) respondents. To identify the desired mate preferences, the researcher made an instrument suited for the study the desired mate preferences, the researcher made an instruments suited for the study and emotional maturity lifted questionnaire were used. This study employed mean, frequency, percentage, Chi-Square in identifying the degree of desired mate preferences and emotional maturity. Results revealed that male and female respondents preferred most in choosing a mate is the attitude. The male respondents chose personality next to attitude, and then the third are social and cultural background, and fourth having the same rank and the physical appearance, interest and social activities and social skills. While in the female the next most desired mate preferences after the attitude is the physical appearance and personality, next are the social and cultural background and interest and activities and, lastly is the social skill. The male and female respondents have the same level of emotional maturity which is average. The result revealed that in terms of desired mate preferences and emotional maturity there is no significant difference in the male while in the female there is a significant difference in desired mate preference and emotional maturity of third year students in the College of Education and College of Economics, Management and Development Studies in the academic year 2011-2012.
