Abstract: CORTEZ, RINALENE S. Parenting Styles and Anxiety Level of Selected Christian and Muslim Couples from Selected Areas in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Science in Psychology Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Ms. Imelda R. Filart. The study was conducted to find out the relationship of parenting styles and anxiety level of selected couples from selected areas in Cavite. It aimed to (a) determine demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, number of children, types of family, religion and years in religion; (b) determine the parenting styles prevalent among muslim and christian respondents; (c) determine the anxiety level of the two respondents; (d) determine if there is a significant difference between Muslim and Christian's parenting styles and anxiety level. (e) to know the significant relationship between the two group respondent's parenting styles and their anxiety level. This study was conducted from November 2007 to January 2008, which focused mainly on the parenting styles and anxiety level of selected Christian and Muslim couples from Selected Areas in Cavite. The total number of the respondent is composed of one hundred twenty (120) couples. Sixty (60) Catholic couples at Saint Gregory the Great Parish, Indang, Cavite and Born Again couples at Jesus Christ Is Lord Church, Alulod Indang, Cavite were chosen for the Christian group. For the Muslim respondents, there were sixty (60) selected couples at Islamic Studies Call and Guidance (ISCAG) Philippines, Salitran 1 Dasmarinas, Cavite. Results revealed that the null hypothesis is accepted, which mean that there is no significant relationship between parenting styles and anxiety level of selected Christian and Muslim couples from selected areas in Cavite. There is no significant difference between Muslim and Christian's parenting styles. Majority of them both implement democratic style of parenting. It also revealed that there is a significant difference between Muslim and Christian's anxiety level. It indicates that the Muslim couples have high average ranked than the Christian couples. However, they have the same verbal interpretation which is low anxiety level but their level of anxiety is significantly different. The Muslim couples’s respondents have higher level of anxiety than the Christian couples. The null hypothesis was rejected.
