This study generally aimed to know and understand the life of people who were subjected to treatment for substance abuse at Bridge Hall Community Foundation Inc. (BCFI), Indang, Cavite. Specifically, this study aimed to (1) find out why did the participants engage in substance abuse; (2) determine the effects of substance abuse to the participants; and (3) describe the realizations of the participants after six months or more of staying at Bridge Hall Community Foundation Inc. Indang, Cavite. In this study, the researchers involved five male clients who have been staying for the first time inside a rehabilitation center and underwent treatment for at least six months inside Bridge Hall Community Foundation Incorporated (BCFI), Indang, Cavite. The researchers chose their five male participants through purposive sampling and as suggested by the staff of Bridge Hall Community Foundation Inc. The researchers used mixed qualitative design, with narrative analysis and interpretative phenomenological analysis for detailed examination of the participants lived experience. The results were thematically analyzed. Themes related to research questions were summarized. In this study, it was found out that the themes of reasons why the participants engaged in substance abuse were boredom, curiosity, social influence, and loneliness. However, there were three themes which were impaired control, social impairment and risky use that explained the effects on how the participants were affected by substance abuse. Lastly were the realizations of the participants after six months and more of staying in Bridge Hall Community Foundation Inc. These included: acceptance, maturity, regrets, importance of the family, humility, and contentment.
