Abstract: ORGANO, MECY I. Demographic Profile, Emotional Maturity and Self- efficacy of Young Parents in Selected Barangays of General Trias, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. April 2011. Thesis Adviser: Ms. Imelda R. Filart. The study was conducted in order to determine the emotional maturity and self- efficacy of young parents from selected barangays of General Trias, Cavite. The study specifically aimed to: (1) determine the respondents' demographic profile in terms of age, gender, educational attainment and number of children; (2) determine the level of emotional maturity; (3) determine the level of self-efficacy; (4) know if there is a significant relationship between the respondents' demographic profile and emotional maturity; (5) know if there is a significant relationship between the respondents' demographic profile and self-efficacy; and (6) to find out if there is a significant relationship between emotional maturity and self-efficacy. The study used a descriptive correlational type of research in order to discover if there is significant relationship between profile, emotional maturity, and self-efficacy of the respondents. The researcher used purposive sampling to come up with 200 respondents 100 males and 100 females from the sixteen selected barangays of General Trias, Cavite. Rating Scale was used in gathering the needed data in this study. For the profile of the respondent’s personal data were solicited. Some items in the Emotional Maturity Scale was lifted from General Emotional Maturity Test by Tecson (1999) and from the unpublished thesis of Malabanan (2007) entitled "Demographic Profile and Emotional Maturity of Young Couples from Selected Barangays at the Municipality of Amadeo, Cavite". Another set of rating scales was prepared in order to assess the level of self- efficacy of the respondents. It was lifted and modified from the General Self-efficacy Scale by Schwarzer and Jerusalem (1995). In order for the researcher to answer the given problems, statistical analysis was used. Mean, frequency, and percentage were used for the respondents' demographic profile. Sequentially, to determine the level of emotional maturity and level of self- efficacy of young parents, mean and standard deviation were utilized. In finding the relationship between demographic profile and the respondents' emotional maturity and self-efficacy, the researcher used the Spearman Rank, Point Biserial and Chi-square. The researcher utilized the Spearman Rank to determine if there is a significant relationship between emotional maturity and self-efficacy. The respondents have a high level of emotional maturity as well as self-efficacy. Among the demographic profile, age has a significant correlation to the emotional maturity and self-efficacy of the respondents. In addition, the result revealed that emotional maturity and self-efficacy were correlated with each other.
