The study was conducted to find out the relationship of demographic profile and level of discernment of elementary students in selected private and public schools in Indang, Cavite. It aimed to (a) find out the demographic profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, ordinal position, type of family and religion; (b) know the level of discernment of elementary students from private and public schools; (c) determine if there is a significant difference between the two group respondents level of discernment; (d) determine if there is any significant relationship between the demographic profile and level of discernment among the respondents. The study was conducted from November 2008 to January 2009, which focused mainly on the demographic profile and level of discernment of elementary students in selected private and public schools in Indang, Cavite. The total number of the respondents is composed of one hundred eighty six (186) students. Twenty three (23) from Indang Christian Academy and thirteen (13) from Academia de San Vicente Ferrer were chosen for the private school. For the public school respondents, ninety two (92) from Alulod Elementary School, and fifty eight (58) respondents from Lumampong Elementary School. Based on the results, the following were obtained: of the 186 respondents, majority were eleven (11) years old. In their gender, majority of the respondents were females. In the students' ordinal position, most of them were eldest in the family. The majority of the respondents were living with their parents. And lastly, majority of the respondents were Catholics. Respondents from private and public schools obtained high level of discernment in terms of their values orientation and moral reasoning. The level of discernment of private and public school has no significant difference with each other in terms of values orientation and moral reasoning. Interestingly, based on the results, public school respondents have higher mean in their values orientation and moral reasoning than private school respondents. Nevertheless, they have the same verbal interpretation of high level of discernment. Age, gender, ordinal position, type of family and religion have no significant relationship to the level of discernment among the respondents. The null hypothesis is accepted.
