Abstract: BAYABAY, JOLAM P., COSME, ROXANNE T., MAGALLON, LOURIE-ANN A. Life Events As Experienced by Single, Middle-Aged Women. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University. Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Prepared under the supervision of Ms. Czherie Fei R. Ledesma, RPm. This study sought to understand the various life events of single, middle-aged women, aged 40 years and above, particularly in their personal experiences. Nine women were purposively selected to participate in this study. After obtaining their informed consent, an interview guide that looked into their personal information, relationship history and experiences about their adolescence, productive experiences, and aging life insight. In-depth individual interview utilized qualitative study by the means of interpretative phenomenological analysis classifying the interpretation with themes. The findings of the study showed four themes and several subthemes for every life event of the single women experiences. Most of them lacked education and had a combination of strong and weak personalities. At a very young age, they already carried the obligation of having their own family. Moreover, all of them experienced to be loved by they opposite sex in their teenage lives. At the second life events which is productive, being independent were evident to them. They were able to support their family financially and expressed so much care for them and for others also. They also balance love and work. In the last life events, some of them perceived aging as insecurity, the negative feelings influenced by their environment. However, they invest to secure their future not only for themselves but for their loved ones and by means of faith. They began to experience health issues and they have overflowing love towards their parents.
