Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2016. Adviser: Ms. Ana Ruth M. Andalajao, RPm. This study was focused on the parents of children with special needs. Specifically, it aimed to: (1) identify the parenting style in terms of authoritative, authoritarian, and permissive; (2) coping mechanism in terms of problem-focused, emotion-focused, and avoidance-focused; (3) level of acceptance of parents; (4) determine the relationship between parenting styles and coping mechanism; (5) parenting styles and acceptance; and (6) coping mechanism and acceptance. The researchers used descriptive correlational design and purposive sampling to select the participants. The participants of the study were thirty six (36) parents from selected areas in Cavite. The study revealed that most of the parents of children with special needs were using authoritative parenting in rearing their children. On the other hand, all the parents have a high level of coping mechanism in terms of problem- focused, emotion-focused and avoidance-focused. It was also revealed that all parents of children with special needs have a high level of acceptance of their situation. Based on the results of the study, there was significant relationship between authoritative parenting style and coping mechanism and acceptance of parents. While, there was also significant relationship between coping mechanism and acceptance.
