Abstract: AUSTRIA, CRISENCIO P. and RUBIO, JOSE LORENZO R. Development of Cassava (Manihot esculenta Crantz) Chipper. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Engineering. Cavite State University. lndam2, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: knti.r. Citadel C. Ariola. A cassava chipper was developed and evaluated at Rubio's Residence, lima 1.cios L Indanu. Cavite. The objectives of this study were to design and fabricate a cassava chipper. evaluate the technical performance of the machine in terms of chipping capacity. chipping recovery, chipping efficiency and uniformity of thickness of the chipped cassava and determine the cost of the machine. The principal components of the machine are the cutter head, hopper, frame assembly. discharge chute, 1.5 hp single-phase induction motor, belts and pulleys. The performance and evaluation of the machine was only limited to its capacity. recovery, efficiency and uniformity of the chipped cassava. The variables were the speed of the chipper and the diameter of the cassava. The cassava chipper was fabricated according to the design specifications but has the inability to chip cassava larger than 10 cm in diameter. In terms of chipping capacity. 163 rpm of large diameter cassava (6.0 cm - 8.0 cm) with had maximum capacity of 3.15 kg/min. For the chipping, recovery, higher result was obtained in 163 rpm of larger diameter cassava (6.0 — 8. cm) with 95.76 percent. For the chipping efficiency, 11') rpm of large diameter cassava (6.0 - 8.0 cm) had maximum efficiency of 97.24 percent. The operating cost of the machine is P 1.30/kg. The total cost of machine is P 27,0305.50
