Abstract: FUSINGAN , EDNA AGRAVANTE. Lion Severino Agricultural C!ollege indang, C.avite. April 1997. "Evaluation of the Different Methods of Nutrient Solution Application Under Sand Culture Hydroponics . Adviser: Engr. Renato Cubilla. The study was conducted at the Crop ScienceExperimental Stat ion Don Severino Agricul tural College, Indang, Cavite from February to March 1997 It aimed to evaluate the different nutrient solution application methods employed in sand culture hydroponies; to identify which method would give the best growth performance of lettuce planted in sand culture hydroponics ; to evaluate the methods in terms of installation cost and labor requirements ; and to document the problems met and give recommendations thereto . Three treatments were used in the study , namely: T I—wick auto—irrigator method, T2—continuous drip method, and T3—surface watering method , all placed under greenhouse conditions the continuous drip technique favoredhe growth of lettuce planted in sand in terms of plant height, number Of leaves per plant, root length and weight gain. Furthermore it was the continuous drip technique of solution application which had the least maintenance and labor requirements in spite of high initial cost.
