The study was conducted at the College of Nursing, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from November 2006 to March 2008 with the following objectives: to determine the demographic profile of student nurses in terms of age and gender, to assess the level of emotional intelligence of third year student nurses and to identify the relationship between demographic profile and level of Emotional Intelligence among the respondents. The researchers used descriptive method. They chose the third year student nurses to be the respondents of this study wherein each was given a questionnaire that would test the level of emotional intelligence of the student nurses according to the emotional intelligence indicators. Based on the results of this study, most of the respondents belonged to the age group of 19-20. The group was also a female dominated group. The respondents also got high scores on the four emotional intelligence indicators namely: level of social interaction, mood management, self-awareness and stress management. There is also no significant relationship between the age and the gender and the level of emotional intelligence.
