WANARATANA, SOMCHAI, University of the Philippines at Los Bafios, October 1984, Perceptions of School Superintendents and Vocational Teachers on Supervisory Functions and Techniques in Secondary School, Educational Region 7, Thailand. Major Professor: Prof. W. D. Antonio.
This study mainly sought to compare the perceptions of the school superintendents and those of the vocational teachers on the supervisory functions performed and techniques used by the vocational teachers. A total of 256 respondents were sent questionnaires in this study, 64 of which were school superintendents and 192, vocational teachers from three different school sizes: large, medium and small.
Specifically, it intended to: (1) compare the perceptions between school superintendents and those of vocational teachers on the supervisory functions and techniques; (2) compare the perception of the two groups of respondents from three different school sizes on the supervisory functions and techniques; and (3) compare their perceptions on the supervisory functions and techniques actually performed and should be performed, and actually used and on technique found most helpful.
The T-test was used to test equality between mean of each variable. Analysis of variance and Scheffé's statistical analysis were also used to test between mean of each school sizes of each variables. The significant findings found were as follows:
(1) In most supervisory functions and techniques, the perceptions of the school superintendents and those of the vocational teachers did not significantly differ,
(2) In three different school sizes, school superintendents and vocational teachers did not significantly differ in their perceptions of the supervisory functions and techniques.
(3) There is significant difference between supervisory functions perceived as actually performed and those that ought to be performed; and of techniques actually used and their degree of helpfulness.
