Abstract: PANGANIBAN, RISSEL ANDALEON AND DIGMA, MELANY ARCE 6'The Gregorian: A Textual Analysis of News Writing Structures and Message Treatment." Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication major in Journalism. Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. May 2002. Adviser: Mrs. Irma M. Penalba. The study was conducted in Indang, Cavite on May 2002 to determine the news writing structures of The Gregorian; to determine the message treatment of the student publication, and to describe its visual characteristics in terms of font size, type and number of news articles. The study also found out that those writers of The Gregorian selected their content that they thought their readers would understand by using simple words. The study showed that the inverted pyramid structures or straight news story was the usual structures used in The Gregorian, The researcher (Found out that its student writers treated the news in a very simple way just to present the news in a balanced form. There were four common font types used in the paper. These were Arial, Arial Black, Book Old Man Style, and 'Times; New Times New Roman was the Insol commonly used 1k)not type or the text or the story itself among the four types. These types were used according to what the writers wanted to use. They used these font types because they were more readable and suitable for the readers.
