Abstract: PAGUNSAN, BRIAN; AND UDTUHAN NESTLE MAE, BUYER-SUPPLIER RELATIONSHIP AND OPERATIONAL PERFORMANCE OF WOOD FURNITURE MANUFACTURING ENTERPRISES IN SELECTED AREAS OF CAVITE. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Ms. Ma. Grasya M.Tibayan. This paper focuses on buyer-supplier relationship and operational performance of wood furniture manufacturing enterprises in selected areas of Cavite. The main purpose of this study was to: determine the extent of buyer-supplier relationship; assess the operational performance of wood furniture manufacturing enterprises; identify the challenges being encountered when dealing with suppliers, and determine if there is a significant correlation between the indicators of buyer-supplier relationship and operational performance of wood furniture manufacturing enterprises in selected area of Cavite. An in-depth literature review was made in this study. The descriptive and correlational research designs were used. This study focused on five areas of Cavite with highest number of wood furniture manufacturing enterprises as per Department of Trade and Industry record. The study targeted a total of 84 owners of wood furniture manufacturing enterprises, however, only 73 out of the total sample were subjected to analysis. Census sampling technique was applied in selecting the potential participants of the study. The findings of the study revealed that buyer-supplier relationship among wood furniture manufacturing enterprises was established based on high levels of trust, commitment, cooperation, and communication. This implies that wood furniture manufacturing enterprises greatly valued their relationship towards suppliers. Moreover, the findings also revealed that the operational performance of wood furniture manufacturing enterprises was on an excellent level. The top most problem found in this study was the high cost of materials. This confirms the claim that rising production costs are a major concern of the industry. And lastly, the study revealed a significant correlation between the extent of buyer-supplier relationship and operational performance. This implies that buyer-supplier relationship that is characterized by high levels of trust, commitment, cooperation and communication could have a significant contribution to the operational performance of a business.
