Abstract: BARAL, KRISTINE ANNE F. AND LOPEZ, ERINE T., Design and Development of Microcontroller based Speed Controller for Coffee Huller Machine. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May, 2014. Adviser: Engr. Florence M. Banasihan. The study was conducted to design and construct a speed controller and and develop a software to the system for the coffee huller machine. It aimed to improve the present performance of the huller machine by controlling its moto's speed which has a big impact to the coffee bean production. Coffee huller machine was made to separate the coffee beans to the husk by means of shearing its outer layer part. Speed and proper settings of the machine were the main factors to consider in producing good quality coffee beans. These were the reasons in conducting this study. To make the huller machine's performance accurate and efficient, a speed controller was developed to control the huller machine's motor which act as prime mover and automatically controls the feed control valve to limit the coffee berries being dispensed by the hopper. Result of the evaluation show that the speed controller for the coffee huller machine provides better quality beans in terms of wholeness of produced coffee beans and quantity based on the output capacity. The study was proven effective on its capability to meet its objectives. To make the coffee huller machine more efficient and accurate. The machine had a total cost of Php 31,720.00.
