ANGCAO, REGINE C. and LORENZO JAYZEN J. Adyo: A Proposed Mt. Makiling Ecotourism Park. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2019. Adviser: Arch. Christine Mariz Costa.
The study was conducted at the College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University from August 2018 to May 2019 to formulate a scheme and design proposal for Mt. Makiling Ecotourism Park that will promote a sustainable use of natural resources of the site for its development. Specifically, it aimed to 1. apply architectural practice in designing a key biodiversity area as ecotourism park; 2. analyse the characteristics of the Mt. Makiling to properly utilize its natural landscape and natural resources for ecotourism development; 3. determine the appropriate strategies and design considerations that are applicable in the design of the Mt. Makiling ecotourism park; 4.
determine the tourists who visit the site and apply architectural programming in planning and design; 5. Determine the architectural design philosophy, design concept, and form concept that will enhance the natural landscape of Mt. Makiling; 6. determine the existing ecotourism product in the area and to determine the needed structures, features, facilities and activities for the quality experience; and 7. provide architectural works such ass architectural drawings (floor plans, elevations, sections), fully rendered drawings comprising of conceptual sheet, perspective and site development plan.
The researchers gathered data from Makiling Center of Forest Reserve and the study focused on the characteristics of Makiling Forest Reserve for the suitable spaces for the proposal. There are methods used for the study such as Architectural programming, gathering of data, interview, site analysis, photo documentation, conceptualization, space computation, etc. At the end of the study, the researchers were able to develop a manually rendered site development plan, floor plans, elevations, sections, perspectives for architectural presentations and with the use of software’s such as AutoCAD and photoshop for the conceptual sheet.
