Abstract: GUMANGAN, EUSTAQUIO A Jr. and ILLUT, JOSHUA I., Risk Assessment at selected Registered Junkshops in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Prepared under the supervision of Engr. Willie C. Buclatin. The main objective of this study was to determine the possible risks and suggest possible solutions to the identified risks at selected registered junkshops in Cavite. Specifically, this research study attempted to: (a) determine the demographic profile of the participants at selected registered junkshops in Cavite; (b) identify the risk present knowing the possible hazards at selected registered junkshops in Cavite; (c) identify the risk level present in selected registered junkshops in Cavite; (d) identify the possible control measures appropriate to the identified risks; and (e) suggest possible recommendations for the effectiveness of the control measures. The study was conducted at selected registered junkshops in Cavite from August 2016 to March 2017. The participants of the study were 284 conveniently selected. Fifty-six (19.72%) of the participants revealed that they are the owner of the junkshops, one hundred ninety-four (68.31%) of the participants revealed they are the worker in the junkshops and thirty-four (11.97%) of the participants own the shop and work there at the same time in the junkshop. Statistical methods such as risk evaluation and risk ranking matrix were used to analyze the data. The hazards in the junkshops were classified into six types including safety hazard, physical hazard, biological hazard, ergonomic hazard, chemical hazard, and work organization hazard. In this study, control measures such as eliminating, substitution, isolation, engineering, administrative and personal protective equipment (PPE) controls was used to eliminate the risk resulted from the identified hazards and minimize the level of risk.
