Abstract: ALCAZAR, ANGELICA M., JACOLBE, EUREKA E., SARMIENTO, EMEE ROSE F., Measuring the Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on Small Animal Veterinary Clinics in the Philippines. Undergraduate Thesis. Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2022. Adviser: Melbourne R. Talactac, DVM, MS, PhD. The World Health Organization (WHO) declared Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) a pandemic on March 11, 2020. COVID-19, the current global health emergency, is wreaking havoc on human and animal health systems globally. The study was conducted from March to May 2022 to provide information and knowledge regarding the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on small animal veterinary clinics in the Philippines. Specifically, the study aimed to provide data on how the different areas of veterinary clinics operations are being impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, and to provide information about the implemented policies and procedures utilized by small animal veterinary clinics in the Philippines to manage the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. A survey was carried out through the use of Google Form type questionnaire and was disseminated online through the use of electronic mail, Facebook platform, SMS, as well as handing out hard copies to nearby small animal clinics. Small animal practitioners based within the country were the participants and a total of 373 small animal veterinarians participated in the study. The results show that the COVID-19 pandemic. impacted these areas of major importance in the small animal practice. veterinary professionals' life, clinic life, stocks and pricing, practice. finances and staffing, clinical activities, clinic communication channels, and availability of support to practice owners. Several policies were implemented in response to the pandemic. These policies had challenged and affected the profession and the small animal practice. Overall, this study showed that COVID-19 had varying effects on the field of veterinary medicine, particularly in the small animal practice. Our country's small animal practitioners had adapted to the new ways or methods to mitigate the negative effects of the pandemic. Although the COVID-19 pandemic is not yet at an end, many small animal practitioners were optimistic about the future of the practice.
