Abstract: JAVILAG, PRECIOUS GRACE BERMUDEZ, "Enrollment and Graduate Trend in Business and Business-Related Degree Programs in Selected Colleges and Universities in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Economics major in Business Economics, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Dr. Maria A. Ersando. A study on enrollment and graduate trend in business and business-related courses was conducted to determine the number of students enrolled and graduates in business and business-related courses in selected colleges and universities in Cavite; the enrollment and graduate trend in business and business-related degree programs in selected colleges and universities in Cavite; the annual rate of increase/decrease in enrollment; and number of graduates in business and business-related degree programs in selected colleges and universities in Cavite. Sixteen colleges and universities were included in the study. Simple linear regression analysis was employed to determine the enrollment and graduate trend of business and business-related degree courses in selected colleges and universities in Cavite from AY 1997-1998 to AY 2006-2007. The study was conducted from January to February 2008 covering colleges and universities in Cavite offering business and business-related courses. Descriptive statistical tools were used in presenting and analyzing the data. Specifically, the frequency counts, percentage, mean and trend were used in presenting and analyzing the enrollment and graduate data for business and business-related degree programs in selected universities and colleges in Cavite. The most popular or commonly offered undergraduate courses in selected colleges and universities in Cavite are Hotel and Restaurant Management, Accountancy, Business Administration and Business Management. Based from the results of the study, BS Business Administration had the highest enrollees followed by BS Commerce, BS Hotel and Restaurant Management, BS Business Management, BS Accountancy, BS Economics and Master in Business Administration. Business Administration was very popular especially among the undergraduate students. Similar to what were observed in the enrollment data, the number of graduates from 1997 to 2007 was consistently highest in the BS Business Administration. Enrollment and number of graduates in business and business-related courses both varied greatly from year to year but decreases in these variables occurred more often than the respective increases. In general, there was downward trend in both enrollment and the number of graduates during the study period. The offering of new and popular courses may have something to do with the decline in the number of enrollees and graduates in the last few years. The colleges and universities offering business and business-related courses should find ways on how they could increase, or at least maintain the rate of enrollment and, consequently, the number of graduates in these courses and hopefully, prevent the continuous decline in enrollment in these courses.
