A study was conducted to describe the socio-demographic characteristics of home occupants; describe the nature, type and status of employment of the home occupants; determine the level of income and expenditure of the home occupants; determine the items of expenditure and the amount spent for these items; and determine the problems encountered by the home occupants in relation to their employment, income and expenditures. The study was conducted in selected subdivisions of Tanza, Cavite, namely: Sta. Cecilia I, ACM Woodstock Homes, Carissa Homes PH.1, Carissa Homes PH. 3, Carissa Homes PH. 6, Carissa Homes PH.7, Carissa Homes PH.2, Landmass Park, Christine Village, Lhinette Homes, Villa Tanza I, Sta. Cecilia II. A total of 374 respondents were interviewed using structured questionnaire. Results of the study showed that the average age of the home occupants was 34 years. Majority (70%) were female; 79 percent were married with an average household size of four. Most of the home occupants attained formal education. Majority (88%) of the home occupants had 0 to 4 dependents. Majority (76%) of the home occupants were employed in private firm/agency. Majority (55%) of the home occupants were employed in the manufacturing and production sector. Majority (81 %) of the home occupants were permanent/regular in their work/job. The average length of service of home occupants was 10 years and 1 month. In general the average income by the home occupants was PhP8,486. Majority (93%) of the home occupants earned from PhP1,500 to PhP48,000.
Most (76%) of the home occupants had benefits received within a year. Majority (66%) of the home occupants had mandatory deductions in their wage. The average income of other family members of the family was PhP 13,834. In general the average expenditure by the home occupants was PhP9,816. Majority (87%) of the home occupants earned from PhP2,260 to PhP57,466. Most of the home occupants spent more for their foods. Most of the home occupants cited high price of basic commodity as the problem in the allocation of their income. On the other hand, the major problem encountered in their employment was low income and many deductions in their salary.
