Abstract: ALBIS, JOAN MARIE G., SILUD, MARIE E., Regional Analysis of Gender Wage Gap of Private Employment in the Philippines. Undergraduate Thesis, Bachelor of Science in Economics major in Business Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Adviser: Ms. Reinalene Joy M. Ayos. The study aimed to examine the presence of regional gender wage gap by sector and nature of work in the country. Specifically, this study aimed to describe socio-demographic profile of the private sector employees across regions in the Philippines; to describe the nature of employment of private employees; to determine the ratio of the labor force participation of women across regions in the Philippines; to determine the wage gaps in the private employment across regions, in terms of nature of work; to determine the significant difference between male and female wage of private employees; and to determine the significant relationship of wages of male and female of private employees and their educational attainment. The data used in this study were obtained from the Philippines Statistics Authority; labor force participation rate and 10,353 observations extracted from July 2016 Labor Force Survey. From the analysis and interpretation of data, results showed that there was a presence of gender wage gap in private employees across regions in the Philippines. In all regions, the labor force participation rate of male was greater than female. In terms of wage gap, researchers found out that in most regions, manager position for women are better compensated than men. However, women were less compensated when they work in male dominated works like service and sales workers. In most of the regions, the wages of male and female private employees were not significantly different. However, in Central Luzon, CALABARZON and Central Visayas there are significant difference in wages. The result also shows that in all regions there was a significant relationship between wages of male and female private employees and educational attainment. Therefore, earning increases as years of education increases.
