Abstract: QUIBAEL, ARNEL B. Manpower Employment and Needs of Selected Banking and Non-Bank Financial Institutions in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Economics major in Business Economics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2008. Adviser: Dr. Maria A. Ersando. A thesis was conducted to determine the manpower employment and needs of selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite. It aimed to determine the following; (1) the number of workers employed in selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite; (2) the number of workers by section work assignment in selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite; (3) the basic or minimum requirements and/or qualifications set by selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite; (4) the manpower needs of selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite in the next five years; (5) the worker's specialization and/or skills preferred by selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite; and (6) the common problems encountered by selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite in hiring workers. The study was conducted at selected banking and non-bank institutions in Cavite from January to February 2008. Data were collected from selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in the three districts of Cavite. The number of respondents from each district was determined based on the total number of possible respondents in each district. The characteristics of selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite were described in terms of major section and units, major services offered, loans offered, scope of operation and total number of employees according to sex, age, place of origin, educational attainment and status of appointment. The most common major units are accounting division cash division, loan division as well as saving and credit and collection division. Several major services are common to all respondents including deposits and loans. The most common of these loans are agricultural loan, salary loan, commercial loan and real estate/housing loan. Among the different types of banks in the study area, rural banks employed the most number of employees Majority of the positions needed by banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite would require at least a bachelor's degree that is related to the job and at least one year of related work experience. The various specializations desired by the banking and non-bank financial institutions include accounting, banking and finance, business administration, business management, meeting, computer science and information technology. The skills most preferred by selected banking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite were computer literacy and good communication skills. The most common problem encountered by tanking and non-bank financial institutions in Cavite in hiring employees was that applicants are inexperienced in the field being considered.
