Awareness of Children and their Parents in Selected Barangays in Silang, Cavite on Positive Discipline as a Tool in Eradicating Corporal Punishment. Undergraduate Thesis Bachelor of Science in Social Work, Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Mrs. Merlie C. Nahilat, RSW, MSSW. This study entitled, "Awareness of Children and their Parents in Selected Barangays in Silang, Cavite on Positive Discipline as a Tool in Eradicating Corporal Punishment". Generally this study aimed to determine the awareness of children and their parents in selected Barangays in Silang, Cavite on Positive Discipline as a tool in eradicating Corporal punishment. In particular, the study aimed to: 1) Determine the level of awareness of children and parents on Positive discipline. 2) Identify the frequency level of Corporal punishment cases among the participants. 3) Determine the significant influence of Positive discipline to the frequency of Corporal punishment. 4) Solicit the views of children and their parents on Positive discipline as a tool in eradicating Corporal punishment. This study utilized descriptive research design supported by quantitative and qualitative approach. The quantitative approach was utilized to get the level of awareness of children and parents on Positive discipline and to know the frequency level of Corporal punishment cases among participants, the researchers used survey "questionnaires containing Likert scales. The qualitative approach was utilized to determine the significant influence of Positive discipline to the frequency of the Corporal punishment and to solicit the views of children and their parents on Positive discipline as a tool in eradicating Corporal punishment, the researchers used in-depth interview guides to gather data from the participants. After the data gathering the researchers found out that the children and parent participants in Barangay Banaba and Barangay Narra II were very aware of Positive discipline, and both children and parents strongly agreed in all of the statements, that "Children learn more on Positive discipline rather than receiving Corporal punishment", that "Positive discipline was the best disciplinary method and has a positive effect on children" and "Corporal punishment have a negative effect on children". The researchers also find out that the frequency level of Corporal punishment cases among children and parents decreases as children reach the age of 14, the only Corporal punishment with a highest frequency is "Shouting" and "Receiving unpleasant words".
