Abstract: DELOS REYES, DEBORA A. and MARTINEZ, IRISH S. Self-Care Practices and Level of Productivity of the Social Work Educators in Selected Higher Education Institutions in Cavite During the Academic Year 2020-2021. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Social Work. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2021. Adviser: Prof. Ethel Jane M. Queppet, RSW. Self-care has been identified by scholars as essential in preventing work- related stressors as it involves holistic activities that benefit the overall wellbeing of an individual. However, the researchers found out that there is a lack of empirical support to build awareness on the importance of self-care to this profession. In relation to this, the purpose of this quantitative correlational study is fourfold: 1. to know the demographic profile of the social work educators in terms of age, sex, years in service, highest academic degree (bachelor's, master's, or doctorate), employer sector (private or public academic institution), social work program offered in the workplace (undergraduate or graduate program), and employment type (full-time or part-time); 2. to know the self-care practices that social work educators frequently engage to in terms of the following dimensions of wellness such as physical, mental, social, emotional, and spiritual; 3. to know the level of productivity of the social work educators in terms of the following factors that contribute to employee performance such as job satisfaction, salary, working experience, and job performance; and 4. to find out if there is a significant relationship between self-care activities and social work educators' productivity. A total number (n) of fourteen (14) respondents from the three research locales in Cavite such as Cavite State University Don Severino de las Alas - Campus, Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries and Imus Institute of Science and Technology were obtained. The results of the data gathered through the standardized survey questionnaires were statistically treated and it was found out that the respondents practice spiritual self-care the most and that they are highly satisfied with their job. Using Kendall’s Tau Rank Correlation Coefficient, results implied that there is a positive correlation between self-care practices and level of productivity. This finding suggests that an increase in self-care practices will more likely increase productivity, or vice versa. Hence, an on- going practice of self-care must be done to maintain productivity. However, the limited number of respondents in this study may not be considered as a sole basis of the overall relationship of the variables, but this research may be used as a reference for future researchers to conduct a more comprehensive study regarding self-care practices and the level of productivity of the social work educators.

Self-care has been identified by scholars as essential in preventing work- related
stressors as it involves holistic activities that benefit the overall wellbeing of an individual.
However, the researchers found out that there is a lack of empirical support to build awareness
on the importance of self-care to this profession. In relation to this, the purpose of this
quantitative correlational study is fourfold: 1. to know the demographic profile of the social work
educators in terms of age, sex, years in service, highest academic degree (bachelor's, master's,
or doctorate), employer sector (private or public academic institution), social work program
offered in the workplace (undergraduate or graduate program), and employment type (full-time
or part-time); 2. to know the self-care practices that social work educators frequently engage to
in terms of the following dimensions of wellness such as physical, mental, social, emotional, and
spiritual; 3. to know the level of productivity of the social work educators in terms of the following
factors that contribute to employee performance such as job satisfaction, salary, working
experience, and job performance; and 4. to find out if there is a significant relationship between
self-care activities and social work educators' productivity. A total number (n) of fourteen (14)
respondents from the three research locales in Cavite such as Cavite State University Don

Science and Technology were obtained. The results of the data gathered through the
standardized survey questionnaires were statistically treated and it was found out that the
respondents practice spiritual self-care the most and that they are highly satisfied with their job.
Using Kendall’s Tau Rank Correlation Coefficient, results implied that there is a positive
correlation between self-care practices and level of productivity. This finding suggests that an

increase in self-care practices will more likely increase productivity, or vice versa. Hence, an on-
going practice of self-care must be done to maintain productivity. However, the limited number of

respondents in this study may not be considered as a sole basis of the overall relationship of the
variables, but this research may be used as a reference for future researchers to conduct a
