Abstract: DE GUZMAN, ARIEL V. and GAMAT, DANIELLE A. APO-LIKHASAN: A PROPOSED PHILIPPINES' 21sT CENTURY METROPOLITAN GARDENS IN PARANAQUE, MANILA. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Architecture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. March 2016. Adviser: Kenn Paolo C. Valero. The design project "Apo-Likhasan: A proposed Philippines' 21st Century Metropolitan Gardens" was conducted from June 2015 to March 2016 under the supervision of Kenn Paolo C. Valero. The study aimed to apply architectural programming on the design method to accomplish establishment of the site criteria, design criteria, design concept, form concept, design philosophy, and to provide effective plan for the park facility. The proposal was intended to provide the need of reducing the city's severe pollution using natural and green strategies that will also aid to the country's degraded rainforest. It also aimed to contribute to the regional government of Manila's project, the Manila Green Print, which has a goal of preserving the land's natural green resources while promoting awareness through ecotourism. The proposed project site will be on Alphaland Bay, Brgy. Tambo, Paratiaque City. At the end of the study, the researchers were able to provide site development plan, floor plans, elevations, sections and perspective for architectural presentation of the project. A scaled model was developed to show ts actual appearance and can served as reference for the students and faculty members of the University and as well as the City of Paranaque for future development. The researchers documented and provided a manuscript of the design proposal. At the end of the study, the authors recommend the allied profession concerning the structural feasibility of the project, thus further research on reclaimed land is significantly recommended. Also, the maintenance and other utilities of the site such as drainage system and waste disposal management is recommended for further study. The use of liquid desiccant cooling system is included in the design project thus, authors recommend the future researchers concerning similar proposal to research on a more practical and cost-efficient active cooling system necessary for the scale of the project.
