Abstract: LA TORRE, ERICA DANIEL; LACSADO, LINDSAY P.; NAPALLA, HANNA JOY C.; PABILONA, NINNA MARIE B.; SALAZAR, RAE ANNE MICAH L. Lived Experiences of Cavite State University Levels II and III Medical Technology Students during the Shift of Learning Modality and its Effects to their Mental Health. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2021. Adviser: Evelyn M. Del Mundo, RN, MAN, LPT, PhD The study entitled Lived Experiences of Cavite State University Level II and III Medical Technology Students During the Shift of Learning Modality and its Effects to their Mental Health was conducted from February to June 2021 among the Level II and III Medical Technology students of the College of Nursing via online platforms in order to assess their lived experiences during the shift of learning modality brought by the pandemic and its effects to their mental health. Specifically, the purpose of this study was to determine the: conditions encountered by CvSU Level II and III Medical Technology students during traditional and online learning; predispositions of CvSU Level II and III Medical Technology students during the shift in learning modalities; perceptions of CvSU Level II and III Medical Technology students regarding the shift in learning modalities; and effects of the shift of the learning modality to the mental health of students. Descriptive phenomenological approach was used in the study. Nine participants who were selected using inclusion criteria were given a comprehensive, semi-structured online interview. This study revealed conditions that involved a preference of students to immediate feedback via direct communication; were able to maintain test results; and requirements that were said to be bearable during traditional learning; with submissions being more convenient during online learning. Most students experienced a change in attitude as a predisposition to the shift, as to only be reinforced by their perceived threats, challenges, and barriers to their mental health, such as, social media, online learning, and socio- environmental factors, respectively. As to the effects to their mental health, awareness was regarded to issues with their mental health and a shifted severity from positive to a negative one yet revealed a better self-efficacy of oneself. Hence, it was recommended for students and their families to keep pace and properly understand mental health alongside the collaboration of school administrators and professors to uphold programs supporting students' mental well- being. Future researchers who would be interested in a similar nature of study may conduct a quantitative research study in a larger population.
