Abstract: BALINADO CRISANTO G. Organic Production of Salad Tomatoes in Raised Beds. Special Problem Report. Bachelor of Science in Agriculture major in Horticulture. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. April 2006. Adviser: Dr. Armonita C. Sanchez. The feasibility of producing organically grown salad tomatoes in raised beds was evaluated at the backyard of Mr. Antonio Salgado in Naic, Cavite from November 2005 to February 2006. This was conducted to describe the organic production practices in salad tomato; describe the growth rate and yield of salad tomato produced through organic way; and perform cost and return analysis of producing organically grown salad tomato. Seeds of salad tomato (var. Maxima) were planted in raised bed (10x10 m). The raised bed was filled with equal parts of burnt rice hull and chicken manure. Flowering was observed 33 days after transplanting. Salad tomato fruits were produced three (3) days after flowering and were harvested 28 days after salad tomato fruit formation. A total of 113 kg of marketable salad tomato fruits were sold for Php70/kg at Mahogany Market, Tagaytay City. The project earned a gross income of Php 7,910.00. After deducting the total expenses of Php 4,321.00, a net income of Php 3,591.00 was realized. The return of investment (ROI) of the project was 83.10 percent.
