"Elementary Students Preference Between Video Games and Philippine Traditional
Games" at AS(S Elementary School Mendez, Cavite, S.Y 2018-2019. Undergraduate

The study was conducted from January to March 2019 at ASIS Elementary School,
Mendez, Cavite, to determine the preference level of the grade 5 and grade 6 students in video
games and Philippine traditional games. Specially, the study aimed to: 1. determine the
demographic characteristics of the grade 5 and grade 6 students of ASIS Elementary School; 2.
determine the types of traditional Filipino games; 3. determine the types of video games which
are popular among the grade 5 and grade 6 students of ASIS Elementary School; 4.determine
the preference of the grade 5 and grade 6 of ASIS Elementary School between video games
and Philippine traditional games; 5. and determine the significant difference in the preference of
the grade 5 and grade 6 students between video games and Philippine traditional games when
grouped according to demographic characteristics.
The participants were 75 students of ASIS Elementary School for S. Y 20182019. They
were selected using Random Sampling Technique. A survey questionnaire was used to gather
the data needed in the study.
The researcher's used Slovin's formula to determine the number of participants. The
study made use descriptive method of research. The data gathered were subjected to statistical
treatment.
The study will benefit the student, parents, teachers, school administrators and future
researchers. The study gives them further information about the preference level of elementary
students in video games and Philippine traditional games, it can also be their source and
information The result showed that there is significant relationship between the demographic
characteristics of the respondents and the preference in video games and Philippine traditional
games.
