Grand Tower as Affected by Concentration Levels of Botanical Liquid Fertilizer. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Applied Mathematics with specialization in Statistics. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. May 2017. Prof. Antonio V. Cinto. The study entitled: “Response Surface Methodology of Growth and Yield of Romaine Lettuce var. Grand Tower as Affected by Concentration Levels of Botanical Liquid Fertilizer” was conducted at Cavite State University- Don Severino De Las Alas Campus during A. Y. 2016- 2017. The study was conducted to get the optimum setting for the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce var. Grand Tower was affected by concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer. The botanical liquid fertilizer was formulated by Angeles (2015) in her dissertation found in the Graduate School of Cavite State University. She applied the botanical liquid fertilizer to the Romaine Lettuce and her raw data was used in this study. The growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce was measured through fresh plant weight, leaf length and number of leaves. The concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer was divided into three levels: 14 mL, 18 mL and 22 mL per liter of water. The study specifically aimed to (1) determine if the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce is affected by the different concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer; (2) formulated different competing models to represent the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce based on the concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer; (3) determine which of the competing models is the best model to represent the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce based on the concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer; and (4) to determine the optimal setting for the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce var. Grand Tower as affected by the concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer through the graphical analysis and response surface analysis. The results revealed that the fresh plant weight, leaf length and number of leaves are all dependent on the concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer. And throug regression analysis, each of the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce had two competin models. The models were compared and the best models were used to represent the data graphically. Then, response surface analysis was utilized to determine the optimum. The optimal setting for the growth and yield of Romaine Lettuce var. Grand Tower as affected by concentration levels of botanical liquid fertilizer is at 18.7 mL of botanical liquid fertilizer per liter of water. This concentration is expected to have a result of 0.31grams for the fresh plant weight, 120.03 mm for the leaf length and 12 pieces for the number of leaves.
