This study was conducted to assess the level of interest and appreciation of Cavite
State University- Bachelor in Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences students towards
Traditional Filipino Games. The demographic profile of the respondents according to age,
sex, and year level was used in analyzing the level of interest and appreciation. The
participants were composed of 100 Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Science,

wherein 17 were aged eighteen years old and below, 61 were between nineteen to twenty-
one years old and 22 were twenty-two years old and above. A percentage of 59% of the

respondents are male and 41% are female.
The results of the study show that in statements 1 and 3-19, the respondents generally
demonstrate a high level of interest and appreciation in Filipino Traditional Games, having a
weighted mean of 3.46 - 3.87. While as observed in statement 2, the results show that the
respondents have a moderate level of interest and appreciation on Filipino Traditional Game
with a weighted mean of 3.28. Overall, students have a high level of interest and
appreciation on Traditional Filipino Games with an overall mean of 3.60. Also, the study
found out that there is no significant difference between the level of interest and appreciation
of the students when grouped according to age and sex.
However, there is a significant difference between the level of interest and appreciation
of the students when grouped according to year level, second-year students revealed that
they have a low level of interest and appreciation on Traditional Filipino Games.
Furthermore, the study also revealed nine major factors that affect the level of interest and
appreciation towards Traditional Filipino Games of the Cavite State University- Bachelor of
Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences students namely: technology and innovations
(online games, mobile phones, mobile games, computer, e-games, gadgets, social media,
arcades, internet), covid19 pandemic, not enough knowledge on traditional games
(unawareness and low promotion), not having company to play with, not enough space to
play, age and maturity, other responsibilities, less interest in traditional games and other
hobbies. These nine major factors served as the basis for the proposed action plan
associated with this study. The overall results of this study are expected to contribute to the
following individuals and institutions: school administrators may improve the programs and

curriculum of physical education, taking into consideration the results of the present study;
students and the community they may create and strengthen everyone's awareness of
Traditional Filipino Games; lastly, future researchers may use the present study as a basis
and guide for studies revolving around related topics in the future.
