Abstract: ALANO DANIEL NICAEL C., and CURIOSO MARK ANTHONY B. PERCEIVED EFFECTS OF MUSIC ON EXERCISE PERFORMANCE OF SELECTED INDANG, CAVITE RESIDENTS. Undergraduate thesis. Bachelor in Science in Exercise and Sports Science. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. 2022. Adviser Prof. Kristine Marie T. Ronario The study was conducted from September 2021 to December 2021 in the targeted areas of Indang, Cavite. The research design study was conducted to assess the perceived effect of music on the exercise performance of the selected Indang, Cavite residents. The demographic profile of the respondents according to age, gender, and music genre they listened to was used in the perceived effects of music on exercise performance. The findings revealed that 54 of the total 100 respondents were aged twelve to twenty- one years old, 31 were between twenty-two to thirty-nine years old, 10 were forty to sixty-four years old and 5 were sixty-five and above. The respondents were 62% male and 38% female. Rap genre was the most listened to music genre during the exercise of the respondents with 22.97%, followed closely by techno at 22.31%, classical with 15.54%, followed by pop with 14.86%, followed by rock at 13.51%, and blues and other genres at last with 10.81% of the respondents listening to it during exercise. The respondents were divided according to their demographic characteristics. In statements, according to the adapted questionnaire (Brunel Music Inventory Rating 2), the findings revealed that the rhythm, style, tempo, melody, the sound of the instruments, and beat of the music can motivate the respondents during their exercises with an average weighted mean ranging from 5.84- 5.39. Overall, participants believed that music have effects on music performance during exercise with an overall mean of 5.56. Also, the study found out that there is no significant difference between the perceived effects of music on the exercise performance among selected Indang, Cavite residents when grouped according to age and gender. However, there is a significant difference between the perceived effects of music on the exercise performance among selected Indang, Cavite residents when grouped according to the genre they listened to. The study it is recommended the use of music as background and the selection of genres they want to listen to, to motivate individuals to perform exercises. The study was conducted to know the perceived effects of music on the exercise performance of the selected Indang, Cavite residents. The researchers recommend conducting a similar study on the effects of music on the motivation to perform an exercise. In this study, the coverage of data gathering only covers two barangays. It suggested that a future study should be conducted with a wider coverage of areas.
