Abstract: CERVANA, MARY JOY D., DELOS REYES, AREM CESAR C., Comparative Cost Analysis Between Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert and Pipe for Four-Lane Road Crossing. Undergraduate Design Project. Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering. Cavite State University Indang, Cavite. April 2006. Adviser: Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas Jr. The study aimed to design a Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert and Pipe in a given discharge, which includes architectural and structural plans, design computation, detailed cost estimate and provide tarpaulin to which advantages and disadvantages were printed. This study was conducted at the Department of Civil Engineering, College of Engineering and Information Technology, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite from June 2005 to March 2006. In addition, this study can also serve as basis for future implementation of the project. General hydraulic equation for computing the discharge was used to analyze the discharge capacity of a given commercial diameter of pipe and standard size of a box culvert. Standard tables and the man-hour basis were used as the methods of estimating the cost of required culvert in a specific discharge, through the help and assistance of Engr. Marcelino A. Dagasdas Jr. This is also used to shorten the long process of computation and to give ease in identifying the most economical size and arrangement of culvert in a given amount of discharge. The design exhibited limitations, requirements, principles and considerations in designing a Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert and Pipe for twelve meter, Four-Lane Road Crossing.
