Twenty-five contract broiler raisers from five selected town of Cavite were used in this study to: 1) determine their socio- economic characteristics and their corresponding relationship to performance; 2) determine the amount of capital needed in contract broiler production; 3) analyze the cost and return In contract broiler production; and 4) identify the problems confronted by contract raisers or producers.
No significant differences were observed between the socio- economic variables and the varying performance of contract broiler raisers. The cost of investment for housing and other farm fixtures in a small scale contract broiler product-ion is P136,400.00 while an additional amount of P96,000 and P129,400 were needed in the medium and large scale operations Large scale broiler production had an additional of P12,369.07 and P6, 120.33
over the small and medium scale operations.
Problems encountered by the contract broiler shortage of feeds raisers include: high mortality rates, s and medicines and poor quality of feeds.
