Abstract: BRIONES, MA. NORMALYN R., MAGLUPAY VIENA MAE C., MALALUAN, APRIL LORAINE DEE S., SOLOMON, ALLYZA KATE R., TAMAYO, IOANNINA D. Utilization and Perceptions of Health Professionals on Electronic Health Record System in Selected Rural Health Units in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology. Cavite State University, Indang Cavite. June 2022 with Contribution No. CON- BSMT-2022-37. Adviser: Prof. Nenita B. Panaligan, RN, MAN. The study entitled "Utilization and Perceptions of Health Professionals on Electronic Health Record (EHR) System in Selected Rural Health Units (RHUS) in Cavite" focused on determining the perceptions of the health professionals based on their utilization and experience in using the EHR system. This study was conducted in the province of Cavite from February 2020 to May 2022. It aimed to determine the perceptions of health professionals working on the selected rural health units (RHUS) in Cavite on the electronic health record (EHR) system and how they utilized it based on its benefits, difficulties, and readiness. A quantitative descriptive research design was utilized in the study. A total of 196 health professionals were selected using a purposive sampling technique. Selected RHUS and health professionals were the participants in the said study. Data were collected using self-administered online survey questionnaires with the application of the Five-point Likert Scale to measure the perception and utilization of the participants, specifically their perceived benefits, difficulties, and readiness in terms of facility, personnel, and workload of the health professionals utilized the EHR. The study showed that the majority of the participants are aged 23-32 years old and most of them are female. The participants are mostly nurses and midwives, and there are only a few medical technologists, doctors, dentists, and radiologic technologists. The municipalities of Amadeo, Indang, Kawit, Maragondon, Mendez, Naic, Noveleta, Rosario, Silang, Tanza and Ternate, and the cities of Cavite, Dasmarinas, Imus and Tagaytay were selected locations of RHUS in Cavite. All of the RHUS in Cavite are utilizing EHRS. Based on the findings of the study, the majority of health professionals are currently using EHRs. The most currently used EHRS in the RHUs is the Electronic Field Health Services Information System, followed by the iClinic Sys, and most of them had been using it for three to four years while some were using it for more than four years. Data shows that the EHRS are mostly used for all patient profiles, medical history, laboratory results, and patient medication. On the other hand, the majority of them did not undergo training and learned only during official work hours or hands-on activities during academic learning. While those who were trained were mostly facilitated by the government for 3 to 6 days. The perception of health professionals based on their experience in using an EHR system is that it is very beneficial, however, they perceive that it is both difficult and easy to use to some extent. In addition, the readiness of the RHUS is efficient in maintaining their equipment, competent personnel, and easier workload. Lastly, the overall perception of health professionals is high, which suggests that the EHR system is highly perceived in terms of benefits, difficulties, and readiness of RHUS based on the utilization and experience of the health professionals.
