Human resource management has been highly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, posing considerable problems to human resource managers and practitioners affecting areas like recruitment and selection, training and development, compensation and benefits and health and safety. The study aimed to assess the effects of business characteristics of the selected industries in Cavite on human resource management techniques. Moreover, the study sought to assess the effects of human resource challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic on human resource techniques. It was carried out among the human resource managers and practitioners of semiconductor and electronics companies, retail stores and restaurants in selected cities and municipalities of Cavite. Convenience sampling method was employed to select the participants. Moreover, using ordered logistic regression, it was found that business characteristics have significant effects on human resource management techniques. In addition, it was also discovered that human resource management challenges have a significant effect on human resource management techniques. It was concluded that human resource management challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic has significant effects on selected human resource management techniques. Therefore, it is recommended for the future researchers to conduct a similar study but considering other areas of human resource management to assess further effects of COVID-19 pandemic.
