Abstract: GERMINO, CHLOE D. MACIAR, JOHN ROBERT H. PAYAPAYA, JEREMAE B. Coping Strategies of Selected Filipino Workers in Spain. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in International Studies. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2019. Thesis Adviser: Mr. Alberto M. Aguilar. The study was conducted to: (1) determine the demographic profile of the participants; (2) identify the common problems in the cultural adaptation of Filipino workers in Spain; (3) identify the commonly used coping strategies; (4) identify if there is a significant relationship between demographic profiles and problems encountered in the cultural adaptation; and (5) identify if there is a significant relationship between demographic profiles and coping strategies of the participants. This is a descriptive-correlation study wherein the demographic profiles, common problems in the cultural adaptation, and commonly used coping strategies of Overseas Filipino workers in Spain were determined and results were analyzed to see the relationship between demographic profiles and problems in the cultural adaptation and coping strategies of the participants. Primary data were gathered through online questionnaires that were disseminated throughout Spain. Majority of the participants had ages ranging from 17 to 63, female, college graduate/postgraduate with 48 and above months of stay in Spain and were working in Social Welfare fields. The most common problem they encountered were the unpredictable weather, humid/warm climate, presence of beggars, pollution, expressing thoughts in Spanish, homesickness, communication with families, meeting and interacting with Spanish, and Spanish concept of time. The most commonly used coping strategies were constantly communicating with family through post mails, emails, phone calls, etc., accepting and conditioning oneself to the various events happening around, waking up and leaving early, being positive and optimistic, focusing more attention to the workloads, and surfing the net. The study also showed that the age, sex, educational attainment, length of stay, and type of work have no significant relationship in problems encountered and coping strategies used by the participants.
