JOSHUAR. Perceived Influence of Accounting Practices on the Business Performance of
Online Retail Business in Dasmariñas City, Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of
Science in Accountancy. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, August 2022. Adviser:
Dr. Dolores L. Aguilar, CPA.
The number of online retail businesses are continuously increasing nowadays because of
restrictions brought by pandemic. Many businesses are transitioning from a physical to an
internet business because of the convenience it provides. In business, understanding how
effectively a firm is functioning is critical while accounting practices, accordingly, play a
significant part in order to see the actual state of a business. Majority of researches undertaken
appeared to be limited to the performance of traditional businesses and that limited studies have
been conducted on the accounting practices employed by online retailers. As a result, it is
believed that conducting a study on online business is both relevant and timely. Thus, the
purpose of this study is to emphasize the perceived influence of accounting practices on the
business performance of online retail businesses. Data were gathered through survey
questionnaires, and it revealed that majority of participants are implementing accounting
practices in their individual businesses. More so, the overall findings demonstrated that they
also reflect on the business performance of online retail business. Lastly, it was viewed that
accounting practices had significant relationships with business performance. Thus, a strong
and positive correlation existed between the two variables. It implies that applying accounting
practices would help businesses in improving its performance, and that accounting is always
relevant in bringing business to success.
