Abstract: COMALING, LOVERN A., LOBA, MARLON L., PANOLONG, JEMUEL S., AND TAN, ROZZ G. Productivity of Work-From-Home Teachers from Private Colleges in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Business Management major in Operations Management. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. August 2022. Adviser: Prof. Rowena R. Noceda. The sudden occurrence of the pandemic has changed the way educational institutions operate. Learning has been shifted from traditional to remote work thus, teachers are forced to cope with this alternative arrangement transforming their homes to offices. The shift has brought questions whether this mode of work promotes or reduces productivity considering that the employees are not in their natural work environment. To further understand how working from home affects productivity, a study was made. The study was conducted from September to November 2021 in the province of Cavite to determine the productivity of work-from-home teachers from private colleges in Cavite. Specifically, it described the demographic characteristics, productivity, and the condition of work-from-home arrangement of private college teachers. In addition, the study distinguished the relationship between the demographic profile and the level of productivity, and the effects of work-from-home arrangement on the productivity given the identified remote working factors such as work environment and technology. The study is quantitative research which specifically uses descriptive, correlational, and causal-comparative design. The necessary data was gathered using a structured five-point scale Likert-type survey questionnaire distributed online to 282 samples of private college teachers in Cavite specifically in the towns of Dasmariñas, Bacoor, Cavite City, Naic and Silang selected through quota sampling technique. The data was statistically treated using frequency, percentage, median, Pearson's chi- square test, Cramer's V, Somers’s D, and ordinal regression. The result showed that private college teachers are mostly men and single with ages between 22 to 31 years old and mostly bachelor's degree graduates with one to six years of employment. Furthermore, teachers are highly productive in a work-from- home arrangement where there is a poor work environment and good technology. It is found that there is no significant relationship between productivity and sex as well as with years of employment. However, there exists a significant positive association between productivity and age as well as with civil status and highest educational attainment. Furthermore, work-from-home arrangement, in terms of both work environment and technology, affects the productivity of private college teachers in Cavite. Based on the findings, private colleges should pay close attention to the condition of work-from-home environment of the remote teachers especially on their internet connectivity, equipment, and technological skills. There should also be an assessment of workloads and working hours of private college teachers to provide appropriate time off, and work-life balance, thus, maintaining productivity.
