Abstract: MAMARIL, CYRIL ANN V., MANGUBAT RAYSHIEL C., and MIRANDA, JEEN CACHEL D. Motivation among volunteer teachers who reach out selected areas in Cavite. Undergraduate Thesis. Bachelor of Science in Psychology. Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite. June 2018. Adviser: Ms. Mary Sol A. Abad. The study was conducted at the selected areas in the region of Cavite in the A. Y. of 2017-2018 starting the month of September when the proposal is approved. Specifically, the study aimed to: (1) determine the respondents' reasons for being a volunteer teacher; (2) identify the experiences and the adjustments they encountered in volunteering; and (3) determine their motivation why they were still there. The participants of the study were selected based on the following criteria:(l) must be 20 to 45 years old and have at least two years of experience in offering free education in isolated areas in Cavite; (2) anyone who voluntarily teaches regardless of being a professional teacher or not or having a college degree or being an undergraduate. (3) any volunteer teacher in Cavite regardless of being a resident in Cavite or not; (4) they must not receive any kind of payment or salary from the government but they are allowed to receive any kind of donation from the parents or other people. Qualitative narrative approach was used in the study. The researchers made an interview guide questions that was validated by the three experts to gather data from the participants. A semi-structured interview with the participants was conducted by the researchers that lasted for 30 minutes or until the desired data were gathered. Prior to which, ethical procedures was respectably followed by the researchers in order to minimize any possible risks on both parties and to maximize the benefits throughout the study. Tokens were given to the participants for participating in the study. After the interview, all the data gathered from the participants was consolidated and interpreted by the researchers with the help of the three coders. The following major focal themes were distinguished in the study that served as their motivation in volunteering: (1) faith and service towards God; (2) fulfillment in teaching and sharing God's word; (3) learning to love children; (4) being a channel of education; (5) passion and love for teaching; and (6) practicality. The researchers concluded that when it comes to motivation among the volunteer teachers, it was different and unique from each other. Some were motivated intrinsically while some were motivated extrinsically. Although these said volunteer teachers developed that love for the children, some teachers still plan to stop due to their different personal reasons. As they quit as a volunteer, the organizations that they were part of could let the new aspiring teachers to be on field. They would serve as a role model for those young teachers.
