Abstract: The project was conducted at DSAC Poultry Project under the supervision of the project-in-charge, from September 1, 1990 to October, 1990. A total of 300 chicks was used by the farm practice student to determine the actual cost and return in raising 300 beads of broilers. A total of 272 marketable birds with an ave-rage body weight of 1.509 kg was marketed at seventh week of age, on a liveweight basis at a price of P40.00 per kilogram. After computing the total expenses (P12,731.69) and sales (P16,535.05), the student realized a net income of P3,803.36. Even though it had a high mortality rate of 9.33 percent, the project attained a higher net income than the projected amount, proving that backyard broiler production is still a very profitable enterprise.
