The farm practice project entitled "Intercropping Ginger with Sitao" was conducted at Tagaytay City from April to November 1991. The project generally aimed to produce farm vege-tables in a limited area at a considerable cost within a certain period. It was also established to provide know-ledge on actual production of ginger and sitao in intercropping system. Specifically, the project aimed to know the cost and return of producing ginger and sitao and to identify problems that may be encountered in growing such vegetables for possible remedial measures. Different strategies:of implementation was properly done. Management practices, as well as the cultural requirements of the crops were carefully worked out. For example, harvesting of sitao was started 90 days after planting and it was repeated as necessary after about three days. For ginger, harvesting was done once after about eight months when the stalks were already partially dry.
The net income obtained after the expenses had been deducted was p4,516.50. The return on investment of the project was 75.16 percent.
