Abstract: DE LA CRUZ, MARICRIS VIDALLON "Employment Generation of Jollibee Foods Corporation in Cavite", Bachelor of Science in Economics, Major in Development Economics, Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2000. Adviser: Ms. Normida M. Malabanan. A study was conducted to present employment generation of Jollibee Foods Corporation in Cavite. Specifically, it aimed to: describe the socio-economic characteristics of employees of Jollibee Foods Corporation; determine the position, employment status and wage rate of employees; determine the proportion of employment in Jollibee Foods Corporation in relation to the employment in Cavite; to determine the growth rate of Jollibee Foods Corporation in Cavite. Data were gathered through survey and interviews among managers of Jollibee Foods Corporation. Secondary data from 1995-1999 were used in the study. Data were obtained from the Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Labor and Employment, Municipalities Business License and Permits Unit, National Statistics Office (Regional), Batangas City ( Provincial ) in Trece Martirez City, Planning and Development Division Office of the Provincial Capitol, from the main office of Jollibee Foods Corporation in San Miguel Avenue, Ortigas Pasig City and from the sixteen Jollibee Foods Corporation outlets in Cavite. Data were analyzed using descriptive method and ratio and proportion. There are 16 Jollibee stores in Cavite as of 1999. Based on the analysis of the employment in Cavite from 1999 using ratio and proportion, it was found out that the Jollibee Foods Corp. employed 0.5 percent of the total employed in Cavite or 1 out of 201 employed in Cavite was from Jollibee Foods Corp. Eighty percent of the employees in Jollibee were service crews which are contractual and received P25 per hour and 20 percent who occupied permanent position like store manager, assistant store manager, shift manager and crew leader. Also 80 percent of the employees were single and Jollibee employed more males than females owing the fact that the natures of work of service crews entail more difficulties Majorities of the employees were working students from different colleges and universities near places that seek for a part time job and 57 percent of the employees were in the college level, 36 percent were high school graduate, and 7 percent were college graduate which occupies higher position. The Jollibee stores in Cavite had 123 average employments. The highest growth rate of employment in Jollibee was in 1997, from 356 employees in 1996, the corporation was able to recruit 1472 employees in 1997. High growth rate (8.16%) of employment in Jollibee was noted in 1998.
