Applied Research Ill (General Science Curriculum), Cavite State University, Indang, Cavite, March 2002 entitled; " Preparation of Varnish Out of Used Plastic Cups." Adviser: Prof. Tadeo Mojica, Prof. Dulce Ramos This study was conducted at 109 Narra St. Kayquit Ill, Indang, Cavite from August to September 2001 in order to determine the possibility of producing varnish from used plastic cups with the aid of acrylic thinner as solvent. It aimed to determine the effectiveness of the varnish. This study was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with four treatments and four replications. The treatment were Tl- 40 grams plastic cups and 700 mL acrylic thinner, T? 60 grams of plastic cups and 700 mL acrylic thinner, 80 grams plastic cups and 700 mL acrylic thinner and T4- 100 grams plastic cups and 700 mL acrylic thinner. It was observed and proven that used plastic cups can be utilized to produce varnish. It was also observed that of the four (4) treatments used, Treatment 4 is the most effective to use as protective and decorative agent for materials such as bamboo and wood.
